These terms govern your use of Donum: GPS Area Measure ("Donum", "the app"), published by Hugo Software. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.

1. What Donum is — and what it is not

Donum measures land area, distance and perimeter using your phone's GPS and a map you draw on. It is a consumer tool, not a surveying instrument.

Read this carefully:

  • Consumer phone GPS typically drifts 3 to 10 metres, and more under tree cover, near buildings, in poor weather or with a weak sky view. On a plot boundary that is several metres of uncertainty in every direction.
  • Results from Donum are not an official cadastral survey. They must not be used for title deeds, land registry filings, boundary disputes, planning applications, court proceedings, insurance claims, or any other legal or official purpose.
  • Donum is not a substitute for a licensed surveyor. Where a legally binding measurement is needed, engage one.
  • The app shows you the live GPS accuracy figure (the ± value). That number is the real reported deviation; we do not hide or beautify it.

You are responsible for deciding whether a measurement is fit for what you intend to do with it.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you control. You may not resell, sublicense, reverse-engineer or redistribute it, except where such restriction is prohibited by law.

3. Donum PRO subscription

The core of the app is free: Area, Distance and Point modes, up to 5 saved plots, CSV export and copying coordinates.

Donum PRO is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks Walk measuring, unlimited saved plots, KML/GeoJSON/GPX export, the PDF plot report, the topographic and high-contrast map layers, and plot colours and notes.

  • A 3-day free trial is offered, followed by a recurring weekly charge at the price shown on the purchase screen in your local currency.
  • Payment is charged to your Google Play account when the trial ends.
  • The subscription renews automatically each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You cancel in Google Play (Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions), not in the app. Cancelling stops future renewals; the subscription stays active until the end of the paid period already started.
  • Cancelling during the free trial costs nothing.
  • Prices may change; you will be told in advance and any change applies from the next period.
  • Refunds are handled by Google Play under its own policy. We can neither charge nor refund you directly.

4. Map data

Maps are provided by OpenStreetMap and related tile providers. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and licensed under the Open Database Licence. We do not control the availability, accuracy or currency of map imagery, and map tiles require an internet connection.

5. Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that measurements are accurate, that the app is uninterrupted or error-free, or that map tiles will be available.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hugo Software is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a measurement produced by the app — including financial loss, loss of a crop or a sale, disputed boundaries, legal costs, or any indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

If you are a consumer, you keep all statutory consumer rights available to you under the law of your country; nothing here overrides them.

6. Your data

We collect nothing about you and run no server. See the Privacy Policy.

7. Changes and termination

We may update the app or these terms; material changes appear on this page with a new date. You may stop using the app at any time by uninstalling it.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence.
